DNE Inspire & Attract Eko team are proud to announce that we recently partnered up with Engineering UK to collaborate at The Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Fair, that took place at the NEC in Birmingham 17 – 19 June 2025!!
What is the Big Bang event?
The Big Bang Fair is the UK’s largest STEM showcase, reaching thousands of young people. The Big Bang event inspires the next generation of STEM apprentices and graduates with over 50 hands-on interactive activities, experiments, and workshops. This event is designed to inspire 11 to 14-year-olds by highlighting the breadth of opportunities in STEM in a fun and engaging way. This event will be a fantastic opportunity to engage with STEM minded young people to enable them to have up to-date accurate information on where their STEM subjects could lead them into their first career choices with opportunities that the DNE has to offer.
Eko’s Engagement
Our Eko stand, led by our passionate STEM team and supported by brilliant STEM Ambassadors, was a vibrant hub of activity, showcasing robotics and coding in action!! The hands-on workshop attracted a constant stream of curious and enthusiastic young people over the three-day event. The young people were not only eager to learn but also keen to experiment and demonstrate their own knowledge and creativity.
The excitement around our Eko workshop was truly infectious — it created a buzz throughout the event.
Eko’s Expanding Reach
It wasn’t just the young people who were inspired. Teachers also engaged deeply with the workshop, expressing genuine interest in the coding and robotics on display and gaining a better understanding of both Eko and the wider Defence Nuclear Enterprise (DNE).

Partnering with Engineering UK for The Big Bang UK 2025, the DNE Inspire & Attract Eko team delivered a standout experience and successfully raised awareness of the exciting STEM opportunities available across the DNE.
