A career like no other
Your career is a long-term endeavour, something you build and work towards every day and is made up of the combination of roles, experiences, education, and pathways you choose to take to achieve your goals.
Your career really matters and having a path to follow that ensures that you will grow and develop the skills you need is essential. Whether you are in the early stages of your career, looking to switch from your career anchor or leaving the armed forces, the DNE can help you make a plan that’s right for you.
Early careers
An Early Careers programme which is made up of individual schemes is available to support you in your early career.

The Enterprise offers career counselling, skills-development workshops, vocational training courses and online resources.
What is a STEM Returners programme?
Many skilled and experienced professionals take career breaks to care for family members, to travel or study, or for health or other personal reasons. The DNE is dedicated to supporting and empowering individuals to regain skills and confidence as they return to the workplace. We promote an inclusive work environment where everyone is supported to be themselves and achieve their ambitions.
The DNE can offer programmes that are designed to help you transition effectively back to your former STEM career. We have a range of specialisms available, depending on where your experience and interests lie. These are fully-paid opportunities, with technical and soft skills development schemes built in. The length may vary depending on the specific scheme, and all come with the opportunity to achieve a permanent role at the end.
Career Pathways
How can you get to your destination if you don’t know the way? Across the DNE, we rely on our brilliant workforce to deliver our shared goals. Once you are a member of the DNE, we will seek to help you find the way to the right career for you.
